Description

2 Broomlands Street is a three-storey sandstone tenement built in 1886, featuring an end clocktower and a trapezoidal plan with curved end bays at the eastern end.

The front elevation has a modern pub at ground level, with a cornice above the fascia and first floor, and cill and lintel bands. Central to the first and second floors are two-pane sash and case windows, with the second-floor window framed by a pilastered architrave and flanked by blind oculi. At the top, there is a pediment with a blind oculus and a central window topped by a round-headed pediment, beneath a slated pyramidal roof. This roof culminates in a four-faced wooden clock stage with an ogee lead roof, an octagonal cupola (also with an ogee roof), and a weathervane. The sides of the pyramidal roof feature glazed lucarnes. The corners of the building have curved tripartite windows that are slightly set back and adorned with pilasters.

The south elevation consists of seven bays, with the end bays slightly set back. The western end bay features tripartite windows similar to those on the curved eastern end bay, which connects to the front. The remaining five bays contain two-pane sash and case windows, treated as single windows on the front. A wallhead chimneystack is located between the two easternmost bays, with a ridge stack near the center. There are modern shop fronts at ground level.

The north elevation has six bays, starting with the curved eastern end bay that links to the front, followed by a sequence of two single windows, a bipartite window, another single window, and a bipartite window. Three ridge chimneystacks are present, and the roof is slate, platformed at the western end.
