Description

The Western Stable Range at Auchengrange House is a mid-19th century structure that features a symmetrical two-storey, three-bay design, which was extended in the late 19th century by one broad bay to the north. The building is harled and has polished ashlar dressings. The entrance is located in a slightly advanced pedimented bay, which includes sidelights and a later porch. This porch is supported by two columns with foliated capitals and has bracketed eaves. The roof is covered with fish-scale slate and features a cast-iron balustrade. The windows are plate glass sashes, with a cill course on the ground floor, and there is a continuous cornice. Originally, the building had end stacks, but the piended slate roof has since been altered.

To the south, there is a low, single-storey, two-bay wing that is recessed. The east elevation has been significantly altered and includes a square tower topped with a pyramidal roof, along with modern additions.

The irregular early to mid-19th century stable courtyard to the south is also harled, with painted margins. On the north side, there are three single-storey domestic buildings, one of which has been raised to provide a first floor and features a modern roof. There are two stables adjoining a central cottage. Additionally, there is an L-plan range of garages and stores, which includes one segmental-headed carriage entrance and two small pointed-arched windows, all under slate roofs.
