Description
The Mote Church remains and mausoleum, located on the site of the former Parish Church of Scone, is believed to have been part of the old church's aisle. It was remodeled in 1807 by Atkinson in a Gothic style. The structure is rectangular and constructed from rubble with droved dressings. It features octagonal corner towers and a stairway leading to a vault below, topped by an old dormer head. Inside, there is a Baroque monument to the 1st Lord Stormont made of alabaster on the north wall, which includes a columned aedicule with a figure of Lord Stormont kneeling on a cushion at an altar, flanked by two figures in armor. The site also contains other memorials and a collection of old gravestones in the churchyard.
