Description

The Municipal Buildings, located at 1 and 3 High Street in Perth, were originally designed by Andrew Heiton between 1877 and 1879, with further work completed in 1881. The building suffered a fire in 1895 and was subsequently rebuilt and extended from 1895 to 1896 by Andrew Heiton and Grainger (A G Heiton). This structure showcases Victorian Gothic architecture and features stugged coursers.

The corner section of the building is two stories tall, with a prominent first floor and a slim circular turret. There is a corbelled oriel bay facing Tay Street and a balconied window on High Street. The remainder of the building is three stories high, with a four-story tower that transitions to an octagonal shape on High Street. Slim towers with tall pavilion roofs are present on Tay Street, and the windows on both fronts are grouped in pairs.
