Description
Castle Menzies is a 3-storey and attic building constructed in a Z-plan layout using rubble. It features richly sculptured dormer heads and angle turrets. The doorway is located in the re-entrant angle and includes an iron yett, an armorial panel, and the date 1571 above it, with the date 1577 noted at the dormer head.
Inside, there is some panelling dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, along with some work by William Burn from 1840. The main hall was redecorated around 1800.
There have been additions, including a large staircase on the north side, which is now gutted, and a new front door from the 18th century. The west wing and a new front porch have replaced the original 18th-century doorway. The architect for the later alterations was William Burn in 1840. The building is currently derelict.
