Description
Ballindean House is a classical building designed by William Trotter in 1832. It features a two-storey facade with nine windows, where the central three are advanced and topped with a pediment. The entrance has a large glazed anta porch, and the roof is adorned with a circular lantern and octagonal chimneys. The east and west rear parts have a single-window centre with pediments and are three storeys high. The exterior is harled with margins and includes a modillioned cornice. Inside, there is a very large central staircase topped by a dome and lantern, supported on semi-elliptical pendentives, with a gallery at the first-floor level. The house also contains a large ballroom featuring a screen of Corinthian columns. The original house, built in 1711, was remodeled and converted into an office wing, which was removed around 1962.
