Description

12 Station Road in Invergowrie is a pair of semi-detached villas designed by William Gauldie between 1927 and 1928. These single-storey and attic homes feature a rectangular plan and exhibit a late Arts and Crafts cottage style. The exterior is harled, with a grey/green slate roof and ridge tiles, along with a harled ridge stack topped with red brick coping and black cans, which may be original. The windows are primarily timber casements with 6 and 8 panes, although there is an unsympathetic modern replacement on the first floor of the northern elevation of No. 14, and some astragals have been removed from the stair windows of No. 12.

On the northern elevation, there are two canted windows at the center, flanked by doors and 6-pane windows. The deep eaves and paired jettied gables feature 4-light horizontal windows. The western gable has a window and a later porch to the right, with a stair window flanked by bipartite windows of different sizes, all under a lintel course. The eastern gable includes a door and window to the left, with a stair window also flanked by bipartite windows of varying sizes, again under a lintel course. The northern elevation is not visible.

The interior has not been seen. The property is enclosed by a rubble-coped rubble boundary wall to the north, which includes eight rubble-built gatepiers capped with pyramidal tops.
