Kirk Cottage, Dundas Street, Comrie

Stonefield, located on Dundas Street in Comrie, is a church and manse unit designed by John Melvin of Alloa in 1866. This mid-Victorian Gothic building features a simple hall-church structure with three bays and depressed two-light cusped Y-tracery windows along the sides. The west gable facing the street has a bellcote and a moulded, depressed arch doorway. Above the entrance, there is a four-light window with plate tracery and head dripstones. The southwest tower is a low pavilion roofed feature, covered with fish-scale slates and adorned with lion head water spouts and ogee rhones, which are also found on the south flank. The east gable includes a wheel window. The property is enhanced by good cast-iron work on the front gates and wall. Adjacent to the church is Kirk Cottage, a two-storey building with two shouldered bipartite windows and gabled dormer heads, all constructed from red smooth-faced coursers with free-stone dressings and slated roofs. The interior of the church features a gallery.
