Description
Old Perth Academy, located on Rose Terrace in Perth, was designed by Robert Reid and completed in 1804. This building features two storeys and a basement, with a symmetrical five-window front made of ashlar stone and a rusticated ground floor. The central three bays are recessed and have arched tripartite windows on the ground floor, while the first floor showcases a coupled Roman Doric order. The end bays include fanlight doorpieces and arched tripartite windows on the first floor. A balustraded parapet, which includes a clock and a statue of Britannia sculpted by John Rhind in 1886, crowns the structure. Inside, the plain interior is highlighted by a notable domed octagonal classroom located at the rear.
