Description

Circa 1746-8 for Lord President Craigie 2-storey full

basement and attic, 5-window main S. elevation with

centre bay advanced with pediment, Venetian doorway with

broken pediment and flyover stair. Harled with margins

and quoined angles, very steep peind roof with slight

bell cast and two chimneys. Courtyard to rear, W. wing

single-storey with semi-elliptical pend arch and Venetian

to front. N. and E. wings raised to 2-storey with swept

dormer head. A.G. Heiton, architect 1910. Interior:

panelled from basement to attics. Very fine hall-staircase

with Rannoch pine scale and platt stair, half-landing

carried on Ionic pilaster, rococo plasterwork. Drawing

room has covered ceiling with rococo plasterwork, dining

room has Ionic venetian feature with scrolled pediment and

large niche with sliding doors. Original features extremely

complete throughout.
