Description
The County Buildings at 3 South Street in Perth were designed by David Smart and constructed between 1863 and 1866 in the Italian Renaissance style. This two-storey building with an attic features ashlar stonework and quoin ends. The South Street facade has two five-window sections connected by a central recessed bay, which includes pedimented Roman Doric doorpieces. The ground floor has windows with lugged architraves, while the first floor showcases consoled windows with a central segmental pediment and triangular pediments at the ends. The end elevation facing Tay Street has three windows with alternating pediments on the first floor. A distinctive double chimney feature incorporates twin arched windows with key blocks and supporting scrolls. The roof is slated.
