Description
This is a late 19th-century farm complex, with later alterations, arranged around a large internal farmyard. It consists of a domestic range, a livestock range, a cart shed, and a detached byre/store. The buildings are generally harled.
The western (domestic) range is an irregular 11-bay structure, two stories in height, with a large, square-headed entrance offset to the right of centre on its west (external) elevation. The east (farmyard) elevation is also irregular with a large entrance offset to the left of centre. The ground floor includes a variety of doors, some with windows above, and there are windows at both ground and first floor levels in most bays.
The eastern cart shed range is 16 bays wide on its west (external) elevation, grouped with a central range of six basket-arched cart openings. A square-headed entrance is positioned to the right. The north (byre) range is a low, single-story two-bay building. The south range is single story to the east and one-and-a-half stories to the west. The north (external) elevation is blank, while the south (farmyard) elevation has irregular openings.
The detached single-story byre/store located north of the farmyard has a pitched roof. The windows throughout the complex are a mix of 2-, 4-, and 12-pane timber sash and case styles. Roofing materials are varied, including purple slate on the west, south, and east ranges, corrugated asbestos and iron on the north range, and grey slate on the detached store. Stone ridges are present, alongside harled corniced ridge stacks on the west range and a harled corniced gablehead stack on the detached store. Rainwater goods are predominantly cast iron. Interior inspection in 1998 revealed concrete animal stalls lining the north range and an open timber-framed roof.
