Description

The lodge at Balfour Castle in Shapinsay was built around 1850, possibly designed by David Bryce. It features an arch with a mock portcullis, flanked by twin lodges. The building has a corbelled parapet and is constructed from stugged ashlar stone. The fore-court is enclosed by walls that include circular turrets, and there is a jetty present.
