Description
The southwest wing of Breck of Rendall Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the second half of the 18th century, with a mid-19th century U-plan steading. The structure is made of rubble. The farmhouse has two storeys and a dormerless attic, featuring three wide bays. There is a lower two-bay, two-storey wing to the west, which has a door on the south front at first floor level, accessed by steps. To the east, there is a single-storey byre that is now in ruins.
On the north elevation, there is an off-centre door with an additional door to the left and one window to the right. The first floor has two windows, all with 18-pane glazing, along with a small stair light. The south elevation includes a projecting lean-to porch and one window to the left, with one window in each crow-stepped gable end. The farmhouse features gable head stacks and a slate roof.
The steading consists of two long, parallel ranges with a crow wing to the south and a low building at the north. The long ranges are single storey with lofts, and the western range has five elliptical-headed cart bays. The roofs are slate, except for the east range, which is now covered with corrugated iron.
