Description
The drinking fountain, located on Cathedral Green in Kirkwall, dates from the late 19th to early 20th century. It is made of grey and pink polished granite and is positioned to the west of St Magnus Cathedral. The fountain features a square-plan pedestal set on a stepped base, with drinking bowls on the northeast and southwest faces. The other two faces have blank round-arched plaques. It has a cornice with a block-pedimented design and a tapering column topped with an urn finial. The column is decorated with an inscised band.
