Description

The Three Sisters Meridian Pillars, built in 1808 for Sir Thomas Brisbane, an astronomer, are located on Waterside Street in Largs. These pillars are constructed from rubble and have a square plan. They feature droved, squared rubble quoins and are oriented roughly east-west, situated on a motte. The central pillar is topped with a pediment-shaped stone, while the flanking pillars each have three upright slabs arranged in a gun-sight formation.
