Description
239 High Street in Elgin is a building from the later 19th century, featuring two storeys and an attic with three bays. It has an original shop front and a flat-arched entrance leading to a pend, constructed from painted ashlar. The upper facade is also ashlar, while the flanks are made of rubble. Notable architectural details include a moulded string course that acts as hoodmoulds, a corbelled cornice on the first floor, and a central gable with a round-headed bipartite window and a moulded parapet. At the rear, there is a re-used lintel that displays the insignia of the Hammermen and Tailors.
