Description

The Edgelaw Reservoir Dam was designed by James and Alexander Leslie in 1880. It is primarily constructed from squared and snecked, bull-faced pink sandstone, with a grey rubble retaining wall featuring semicircular coping. The dam includes a polished sandstone corniced upstand shaft topped with cast-iron railings, and there is a pedimented opening that allows water to flow from the base of the embankment, which is crossed by a double warren girder bridge. To the northwest of the dam, there is a curved overflow with a stepped-down channel, also crossed by a double warren girder bridge. A round-arched brick footbridge with iron railings is located to the southeast of the reservoir. Additionally, at the western end of the reservoir, there is a segmental-arched bridge made of coursed, bull-faced pink sandstone, featuring polished coping and an arch ring.
