Description

5 Primrose Gardens in Carrington is a single-storey, 10-bay U-plan group of four double villas, likely designed by Thomas Bertram in 1938. The exterior features cream harling and a rosemary-tiled roof, with a bull-faced base course, projecting concrete cills, and a moulded eaves course.

The south elevation is symmetrical with regular fenestration across the four central bays. It has architraved doorways with two-leaf panelled and glazed timber doors flanking the central bays, while a panelled timber door serves No. 4. The outer left and right ends have two-bay gabled projections, each with regular fenestration and a small vertical advanced harled panel in the gableheads.

On the east elevation, there is a single gabled window off-centre to the right that breaks the eaves, featuring a diamond panel advanced in the gablehead and moulded cement skews. The north elevation was not visible in 1998. The west elevation has a single gabled window off-centre to the left, also breaking the eaves, with a diamond panel advanced in the gablehead and moulded cement skews.

The windows are predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case, with 12-pane uPVC sash and case windows for Nos. 3 and 4. The roof is swept with red tiles and has a terracotta ridge, along with harled, coped ridge stacks topped with circular cans. The property features cast-iron rainwater goods. The interior was not seen in 1998.
