Description
Ardgowan House is a mansion built between 1799 and 1801, featuring two storeys, a basement, and attics in a Renaissance style. The building has an extensive symmetrical front with a three-storey central block that is pedimented. A Gothic Decorated Revival chapel is located at the northern wing. The architect for the original design was possibly Cairncross. There is a porte-cochere that is a later addition, and in 1831, further additions were made by William Burn.
