Lighthouse, South Pier, Harbour, Wick

The South Pier Lighthouse, built around 1905, is located at the South Pier in Lower Pulteneytown, Wick. It features a squat, tapering octagonal mass concrete tower that swells at the top to form a platform. Atop the tower is an octagonal iron lantern set on a concrete plinth, with a tubular steel handrail. The lantern has a low-pitch pyramidal roof. The ground floor connects to a contemporary mass-concrete breakwater, which has rail-less steps leading to the top. The entrance to the lighthouse is set in an arched recess on the ground floor, and there are small inset windows on the first floor facing landward. Additionally, there is a small store located beneath the steps to the breakwater.

The North Pier Lighthouse, situated on the North Pier, dates from the later 19th century. It has a hexagonal shape and is supported by six cast-iron tubular legs, each made of four sections, with wrought-iron bracing towards the top. Access to the bracketted gallery is via a ladder, which is surrounded by a tubular steel railing. The lantern is hexagonal and made of wood, featuring a pyramidal roof and an elaborate ventilator. This lighthouse was disused in 1991.
