Description
6 Breadalbane Crescent in Wick is a semi-detached pair of townhouses built around 1860. These two-storey homes with attics have a rectangular plan and symmetrical gabled façades, featuring coursed Caithness stone slabs.
For No. 4, the principal elevation has a central door and regular window arrangement, with small gabled dormers above. The side elevation has a blind gable end, while the rear features a small gabled outhouse at the center and irregular window placement. The windows are plate glass sash and case.
The yard includes a wall that once supported stables and stores, featuring a broad square-headed arch with a rubble arch ring and Caithness flagstone paving.
No. 6 has a modern canted porch at the center of its principal elevation, with blind bays on either side and regular upper-storey fenestration, along with small gabled dormers. The side elevation also has a blind gable end, and the rear has a two-storey flat-roofed modern addition. The windows are modern 9-pane timber sash and case.
The stables are a single-storey, 5-bay building with a narrow rectangular plan. The center has a blocked segmental arch entrance with a rubble arch ring, and a gabled doorway that has been converted to a window. The roof is covered with grey slates and features coped gable stacks.
The boundary wall is low and saddleback coped, ending in stone piers with pyramidal caps, and is complemented by decorative cast-iron railings. The roofs have grey slates and lead flashing, with coped skews and gable stacks. The interiors were not seen in 2001.
