Description
Avoch Parish Manse, built between 1820 and 1822 by Thomas Murison, features later additions by George Rhind from 1845. The building consists of a basement, two storeys, and an attic, arranged in three bays. The central doorway is corniced and accessed by a shallow flight of steps that overhangs the basement. The ground floor has tripartite windows and is constructed from red cherry-pointed ashlar. There is an eaves band and a blocked eaves course, along with decorated scroll skewputts. The roof has three segmental-headed dormers, likely added in 1845, and is covered with slate.
The gables are finished in red harling, and there is a service wing at the rear. The stables, also designed by George Rhind in 1845, consist of a single-storey stable and steading block, which has been partially demolished and significantly altered for use as a garage. The pigeon loft retains blocked flight holes and alighting platforms. The property is marked by ashlar gate piers topped with pyramidal copes.
