Description

Achingale Bridge was designed by Thomas Telford and built between 1812 and 1817, with a widening on the north side completed in 1933. The bridge features three segmental arches, with the central arch being larger than the others. It is constructed from rubble, tooled rubble, and has ashlar dressings. The arch rings are made of tooled rubble and are faced with concrete on the north side. There is an ashlar string course and parapet, along with triangular cutwaters. The bridge has shallow end buttresses and splayed approaches, with an overall span of 90 feet.
