Description
Achingale Mill is a tall, three-storey L-plan mill built in the early to mid-19th century, constructed entirely of rubble. The north arm of the mill features a kiln topped with a piended roof and two squat, square wooden ridge vents. At the east gable, there are two over-shot wheels, one large and one small, both powered by an overhead wooden lade that leads from the bank to the south, into which the mill is built. A large timber cantilevered square chute extends from the south elevation, interrupting the wallhead and connecting to the piended roof. At the rear, there is a lean-to that includes a small gabled dormer, linking the south elevation with the bank. The roofs are covered with piended Caithness slate.
