Description

The Dovecot at Freswick Castle is a 17th-century rubble beehive cote. It has four stages that are defined by rat courses and features a circular apex flighthole. The original entrance is located on the east side of the cote, while a later addition is a tall narrow doorway on the southwest side. The tapering interior is lined with stone boxes that extend from the floor to the apex. The stone boxes up to a height of approximately 6 feet (1.83 meters) are blocked and show signs of being smoke blackened.
