Description
32-33 Argyle Square in Wick is a pair of townhouses designed by Thomas Telford around 1840. These two-storey, three-bay homes have a square plan and feature gabled roofs, facing northeast onto Argyle Square. The exterior is made of squared and tooled, long coursed Caithness stone slabs, with a regular arrangement of windows at the front and an irregular layout at the rear.
For No. 30, the principal elevation includes steps leading to a timber panelled door on the right, with ashlar window dressings. No. 31 has a door on the left and a small gabled dormer on the right. No. 33 features a door on the left and an additional window to the right, along with a small gabled dormer on the left.
The interior was not seen in 2001. The buildings have modern tilt-and-turn windows, except for No. 32, which retains its sash and case windows. The roofs are covered with grey slates and have lead flashing, while the gable stacks are coped with a string course. The properties also feature cast-iron rainwater goods.
