Description

The Straw Barn at Skelbo Farm is a large single-storey and loft structure built in the mid to late 19th century, designed in a U-shape that encloses a 5-bay gabled range of cattle courts. The barn features a symmetrical 7-bay crow-stepped gabled frontage facing east. It is constructed from rubble with tooled rubble dressings. The outer and central ranges are slightly taller, with the outer gables featuring a ground floor doorway, flanking windows, and a central loft window, all topped with apex stacks. The centre 5 bays have wide round-headed arched entrances with double leaf doors, each bay also includes a central loft vent. The central gable is adorned with an apex bellcote, and the building is topped with slate roofs.
