Plockton Church, Innes Street, Plockton

This is an A-grade church, built in 1827/28 by Thomas Telford, with plans and specifications prepared by James Smith under Telford’s direction. It is an ecclesiastical building in use as such, informally known as a "Parliamentary Church," and is comparable in style to Hallin Church in Duirinish and Stenscholl Church in Staffin (Kilmuir).

The church is constructed with harled walls and tooled ashlar margins, arranged in a T-plan with a four-bay main elevation facing west. The west front features two round-headed windows centred between four-centred headed doorways. The gable and rear faces mirror this design. Each window is a two-light design with a Y-astragal and diamond-leaded panes. A bellcote with a stumpy pinnacle sits atop the south gable, and the roof is covered with West Highland slate.

The interior is simple, with a panelled gallery running along three sides. Original fittings remain, including a polygonal, panelled pulpit with a panelled rear and reeded pilasters.

The graveyard is enclosed by a drystone wall, and a square rubble wall marks the entrance. The gatepiers have lost their finials. The church is designated as a group with the nearby Plockton Old Manse.
