Description
Poyntzfield is a building dated 1757, featuring a harled exterior with painted margins and a U-shaped plan. The principal block is three storeys high and has five bays, with windows arranged in a pattern of 2/1/2. It has a pediment supported by four heavy modillions that display the date at the center. The doorways at the second and fourth bays have lugged architrave doorpieces, although the second bay is now a window. The roof is piended and slated, with a pronounced bellcast.
At the rear of the principal block, there is an off-centre octagonal tower topped with an ogee-domed roof. The wings are low, two storeys tall, and consist of four bays, also with piended slated roofs. An addition to the east wing, dating from the late 18th century, is a drawing room with a canted east end located at the north end. There are various miscellaneous additions at the rear. The interior has been much altered but remains of interest.
