Description
25 Elmbank Street in Glasgow is a classical terrace of houses dating from around 1850. The building consists of two stories and a basement, with later additions of attics. It features 28 bays arranged in a pattern of 3-3-3-5-3-3-3-5, with the five-bay blocks advanced. There are two houses in the southern bays, each with doors in the outer bays, and one house in the northern bay with a central door. The main material is painted ashlar, with openings framed in architraves and doors featuring consoled cornices at the top of the steps. Number 21 has an altered ground floor, while number 27 retains original glazing in the first-floor windows along with apron panels; the rest of the terrace has been altered. The building has an eaves cornice and a blocking course, with the parapet of the five-bay sections interrupted by dormers.
