6, 8, 10, 12 Maxwell Road, Glasgow

6, 8, 10, 12 Maxwell Road is a corner tenement building constructed around 1880, reflecting the architectural influence of Alexander Thomson. The building features a domed and turreted corner bay on the southeast side and a plainer corner bay on the west. It has a long elevation with stepped ranges along Maxwell Road and stands four storeys tall. The exterior is finished in polished ashlar, with parts that have been stone-cleaned. Most of the windows are original sash style with a 4-pane glazing pattern, and the roofs are covered with slate. The building has closely spaced single window bays that are pilastered at the ground level, except where these have been replaced by the "Maxwell Arms" public house and modern shops. The first and third floors also feature a continuous fascia over the ground floor. There is a deep frieze at the first floor, and a continuous stepped moulding connects the windows on the second floor. The building is topped with a deep main entablature and has corniced stacks, some of which have been rebuilt in brick.
