Description
17 Mirrlees Drive in Glasgow is a terrace of three houses designed by architect John A Campbell around 1906. The buildings are two stories tall with a basement and feature a seven-bay arrangement of three, two, and two, with numbers 17 and 19 creating a symmetrical four-bay elevation. The exterior is constructed with rock-faced masonry, accented by polished margins, quoins, and a basecourse.
The entrance features steps leading to a roll-moulded lugged architraved doorway with a keystone. The double-leaf outer doors open into a vestibule with tripartite doors that include an arched leaded fanlight and panels. Flanking the entrance are two-storey canted bay windows with parapets that break through the eaves. Above the doorway is a single light window with polished margins. The houses have sash windows, with plate glass lower sashes and small pane upper sashes. The wide mutule eaves, tall axial stacks, slate roofs, and plain skews complete the roofline.
Number 15 has a notable conservatory on its northern flank, featuring a full-height leaded canted window. The interior of number 15 is well-preserved, showcasing wood panelling and chimney pieces. The flank of number 19 treats its masonry as the main facade and includes an ashlar balustrade for the basement area. The rear elevations are made of stugged or rock-faced ashlar with irregular projecting full-height wings.
