24 Blythswood Square, Glasgow

Circa 1823, No 25 redeveloped behind the facade. Classical 3-storey and basement terrace block. 22 bays with 5-bay pavilions raised and breaking forward and central bays arranged 3-3-3-3. Ashlar, channelled at ground floor. Distyle Ionic porticos in outer bays, altered at No 21. Pilastered porticos with Ionic columns in antis at No 177 West Regent Street; pilastered, pedimented doorpiece at No 268 West George Street.

Windows mainly sash and case, some 12-pane glazing, architraved at 1st and 2nd floor. Ground floor windows in round-headed panels with moulded cills and plain aprons above basement band. 1st floor band course, aprons in outer bays; windows corniced, consoled at end sections, architraves simplified in centre bays. Eaves cornice, blocking cornice.

5-bay return to West George Street, 1st bay from east blind; basement rising in slope of hill; similar window treatment with additional smaller lights to right of entry at ground and 1st floor. 2 reduced corniced wallhead stacks.

4-bay to West Regent Street arranged 1-2-1 with similar window detailing. Later dormered attic.

Nos 26 and 26A retain interesting original plasterwork in unusual designs.
