44, 46, 48 Woodlands Road, Glasgow

40 and 42 Woodlands Road in Glasgow is a symmetrical Edwardian baroque terrace of tenements designed by architects F Burnet and Boston in 1900. The building stands four storeys high with attics and features shops at ground level, constructed from polished red ashlar.

The centre and right terminal bays are highlighted by canted oriels that rise through the first, second, and third floors, flanked by pilasters that extend from the second floor to support a segmental gable with bipartite attic windows. The left terminal bay features a tourelle at the angle, which rises four storeys to a conical roof topped with a finial. Aedicular features adorn the second floor, while the other windows are either single-light or bipartite. The building has sash windows with plate-glass glazing, heavy string courses over the ground floor, and a string course at the third floor cills. The eaves cornice and roof balustrade add to its architectural detail, along with some tall wallhead stacks and a steeply pitched roof. The two-bay flank facing Baliol Street is similarly detailed.

The ground floor is supported by cast-iron columns with decorated capitals. Number 32 Woodlands Road retains much of its original leaded glass and panelling.
