Description

60, 62, 64, 66, and 68 Woodlands Road in Glasgow is a symmetrical Edwardian baroque terrace of tenements designed by architects F Burnet and Boston in 1900. The building stands four storeys high with attics and features shops on the ground floor. It has a five-bay flank facing Baliol Street. The exterior is made of polished red ashlar.

The two central bays have canted windows that extend through the first, second, and third floors, flanked by pilasters that rise from the second floor to support shaped gables, which feature bipartite attic windows. The terminal bays include tourelles at the corners, which rise from the first floor to the attic and have conical roofs on the right and hexagonal roofs on the left, both topped with lead spike finials.

There are aedicule features at the canted windows on the second floor, while the other windows are either single light or bipartite, some adorned with pediments. The building has sash windows with plate glass glazing. A heavy string course runs above the ground floor, and there is a plain main cornice along with a roof balustrade. The dormers come in various shapes, and the building has tall wallhead and axial stacks, all topped with steeply pitched slate roofs.

The irregular five-bay flank facing 4-8 Baliol Street includes a canted window on the right side. The ground floor is supported by cast-iron columns with decorated capitals.
