Description

John Bryce, architect; circa 1850 Astylar terrace of

tenements linking Queen's Crescent and Great Western

Road. 3 storeys, attics and basement. 6-bay terrace

with 4-bay shallow advanced terminal pavilions. Polished

ashlar, channelled at ground. Steps oversailing basement

to Roman Doric pilaster doorpieces; doors with

pilastered reveals and fanlight. All upper windows

architraved; corniced at 1st floor; pedimented at

pavilions. Sash windows, plate glass or 4-pane glazing.

Continuous band course over ground and 1st floors. Eaves

cornice; blocking course; deep plain parapet at

pavilions. Axial and wall-head stacks, slate roofs.

Cast-iron railings to basement and steps. Return

elevation to Queen's Crescent and Great Western Road.
