Description
Queen's Crescent Gardens Ornamental Fountain in Glasgow is a D-shaped garden designed by John Bryce in 1840. It is enclosed by a low ashlar wall topped with modern railings. The central feature of the garden is an ornamental tiered fountain in the High Renaissance style, which is currently disused and has flowers in its basin. The fountain is primarily made of ashlar stone, with some cast-iron spouts. It features a wide octagonal outer basin and a smaller inner basin, with a central fountainhead that rises in three stages. The richly carved base supports a classical urn-type basin, while the topmost basin is held up by four cast-iron dolphins.
