Description

16, 17, and 18 Walmer Crescent in Glasgow is a complete terrace designed by the architectural firm of A and G Thomson between 1857 and 1862, showcasing a Greek Thomsonesque style. The terrace is curved in plan and features terminal blocks.

The building stands three storeys above a basement, constructed of ashlar stone. The ground floor is channelled, while the first floor has a banded appearance. The second floor features pilastraded windows, and there is a deep main entablature with intermittent projecting bays on the first floor, which also has pilastraded windows. The windows are sash style, and there are chimney stacks with slate roofs.

The architectural detailing is consistent across the terminal blocks and the return elevations, including a recessed and curved corner bay at the southeast and a subway entrance set behind. Most doorways have a recessed architrave with a disc detail, and the property is enclosed by cast-iron railings with arcaded detailing.
