6, 8, 10 Dowanside Road, Glasgow

This building, located at 2 and 4 Dowanside Road in Glasgow, dates from around 1880 and is a curved terrace of tenements featuring three storeys, an attic, and a basement. The facade consists of 15 bays, with full-height canted windows that create a bay pattern of 4-7-4. The ground floor is finished in polished ashlar, which is channelled, while the upper sections are partly painted or stone cleaned.

Steps lead down to tripartite doorpieces that have double leaf doors, along with glazed side lights and fanlights. There is a plain recessed close opening with a glazed fanlight. The ground floor displays a variety of window styles, while the first-floor windows are both architraved and consoled. The second-floor windows are also architraved, with the exception of a bipartite window at No 2. Each tenement has full-height canted bay windows at the terminal bays, with a cornice above the ground and second floors and a panel frieze above the first floor. The windows are sash style with plate glass glazing, although some modern glazing is present at No 10.

A continuous band course runs above the ground floor and at the cills of the first and second floors. The building features an eaves band and eaves cornice, along with axial stacks and slate roofs. Cast-iron railings are present at the steps and around the basement.
