Description

Gilmorehill Campus Building D17, located at the University of Glasgow, is a two-storey terrace of five villas, likely designed by John Nisbet around 1907. The building features 13 bays and is notable for its rounded bay windows and flat roofs, arranged in a shallow U-plan. The principal east elevation is constructed of red polished ashlar sandstone, while the north elevation is made of red brick and the south elevation is rendered.

Each of the central three villas has three bays, and the outer villas have two bays each. The outer doorways are set in antis and feature panelled doors with stained glass. The entrances to Nos. 26-28 have two-leaf outer doors. Each house has rounded, full-height, four-light bay windows with corniced cills on the upper windows.

The windows are timber sash and case, painted dark green, with decorative leaded clear-glass upper sashes. The flat roofs include parapets, and there are corniced wallhead stacks supported by decorative brackets, along with cupolas above the staircases.

As of 2010, the interiors of all five houses are interconnected. They showcase high-quality Glasgow Style decorative plasterwork, timberwork, and stained glass throughout, including doors, door furniture, fireplaces, ceilings, and staircases. Notably, there is Oscar Paterson stained glass titled 'The Quaint Village' at the inner door of No. 28.

The entrance to each villa is flanked by square red sandstone gatepiers with cushion-moulded caps, and there are iron railings on one side of each entrance. Dwarf walls, although missing railings, front the street.
