Description

Charles Wilson, architect; 1857-9. Three astylar houses returning from Nos 16 and 18 Park Circus to Park Gate. 3 storeys basement and attic; polished ashlar, channelled at ground, stonecleaned (partly painted at No 1).

Nos 1, 3 and 5 Park Gate: 4-bay elevation, recessed left bay with tripartite windows. Tripartite doorpieces. Wide canted 5-light window to ground and 1st floors. All windows architraved; consoled and corniced at 1st floor, sash windows, plate-glass or 4-pane glazing. Heavy band course over ground; string course at 1st and 2nd floor cills. Mutule cornice; blocking course. Axial stacks, slate roof.

No 4 Park Gate: 3-bay elevation; full-height canted (left) or square (right) bay windows. Centre bay; tripartite consoled doorpiece. Upper windows architraved and corniced at 1st floor. Sash windows, plate-glass glazing. Band courses over ground floor; string course at 1st and 2nd floor cills. Mutule cornice; deep plain parapet. Axial stacks; slate roofs. Metal fire escape stair to side (NW) elevation.
