Description

Mid to later 19th century. 3-storey, 3-bay rectangular plan tenement with projecting round stair to rear, in irregular terrace adjoining 18th century Star Tavern to E, modern block to W. Ashlar with architraved margins and bracketted cills; coursed whinstone to rear with heavy pointing and partial harling to stair.

SOUTH (HIGH STREET) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Door at centre with windows in flanking bays, smaller regular fenestration at 1st and 2nd floors.

N ELEVATION: centre round stair with window between floors and small windows at both levels in W face; window to right at 1st and 2nd level (presumably also to left); 3 rooflights.

W ELEVATION: modern building to W slightly recessed leaving windows at outer right to 1st and 2nd floor.

Modern top-opening plate glass glazing at ground, plate glass glazing in timber sash and case windows elsewhere. Grey slates. Ashlar coped skews and gablehead stacks with cans.
