Description

This is a row of mid-19th century cottages located on a sloping site in Peat Inn. They are built of whin rubble with harled brick dressings around the doors and windows, and larger, roughly-faced dressings, some of which have been painted. The cottages are single-storey and unusually long, with the roof following the slope of the ground. Each cottage has a double-leaf boarded door and two or three rooms internally. There are 14 twelve-pane sash and case windows, some of which have been boarded up. The roof is pantiled and there are nine chimney stacks, some of ashlar construction and others harled. The cottages were shown on the 1855 Ordnance Survey map as Collier Row. There have been no later additions.
