Description
East Lomond Limekiln is a large, rectangular-plan limekiln, likely built in the early 19th century. It is a rare example of a disused single pot limekiln, situated prominently on open ground to the west of East Lomond Hill and east of Falkland. The design is typical for limekilns of its time, constructed into raised ground to facilitate vehicular access for loading limestone from above. The structure features arched openings on its exposed faces, made of snecked, roughly squared and coursed rubble. It includes segmentally-headed, voussoired draw arches and a through passage to the rear, with battered angles.
