Description
This is an 18th-century, single-storey rectangular range, originally part of the steading of Grange House. The building comprises two distinct periods, with the northern section later converted into a three-bay cottage in the late 19th century, and a cart-shed added at its north end. The northern section is constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings and features a crow-stepped gable and a pantiled roof. The southern part of the range is narrower, also of rubble construction, with a crow-stepped gable to the south that includes a cavetto skewput, and a pantiled roof. Openings in the southern section have been altered. The range was depicted on a plan of the estate of Grange in 1831, and again in 1847, which showed a circular horse-mill to the west (now removed). An Ordnance Survey map from 1855 shows the building as ruins.
