Cryanreuch, 3 Windmill Road, St Andrews

Cryanreuch is a two-storey, L-plan villa built between 1924 and 1926 by J Donald Mills of Mills & Shepherd, showcasing a late Arts and Crafts style influenced by Baillie Scott and Voysey. The exterior is harled and painted white, featuring sandstone window sills, tall brick chimneys, and a pantile roof. The eaves overhang, and the villa has predominantly casement windows.

On the west elevation, the left section has four ground floor windows, including two large ones. The central section has a piended first floor and an advanced gabled bay to the right, which features a large brick chimney that extends to the full height of the gable. There is a small porch with a doorway set in the re-entrant angle.

The north elevation is characterized by a catslide roof that reduces the height to a single storey, with two tall stacks located at the east and west ends.

The east elevation has not been seen since 2003. The south elevation is advanced with a gable that breaks the eaves to the right of the centre. It has irregular fenestration, including a horizontal window on the first floor to the left and windows on both the ground and first floors of the advanced bay.

The villa features predominantly multi-paned casement windows, a piended pantiled roof, and red brick stacks with upper raised bands.

The interior has not been seen since 2003. The property includes gate piers and boundary walls, consisting of two pairs of square plan piers with pitched coping to the west of the house, two pairs of timber gates with a swept top rail, and a boundary wall with coping that continues around to the south of the house.
