Description
Creich Parish Church was built by William Stirling between 1830 and 1832. It features a Gothic design constructed from coursed whin rubble with freestone dressings. The church has a three-bay rectangular shape, diagonal buttresses, and a west tower that also has diagonal buttresses, an arcaded parapet, and pinnacles. Inside, there is a ribbed semi-elliptically arched ceiling, with no gallery present, and a fine original canopied pulpit. The church contains late Victorian pews and colorful decoration. Notable interior features include a good marble sarcophagus wall monument to the Baillies of Luthrie, created by Dalziel in Edinburgh in 1824 and moved from the old church in 1833, as well as a very fine 1421 Barclay slab with incised effigies and gothic tabernacle work located in the porch.
