Description
Birkhill House is a building designed by David Bryce between 1858 and 1859, which incorporates a former central block from around 1780 and wings added between 1812 and 1814, with some remodeling on the north side. The house is built in the Scottish baronial style using coursed rubble. The main block is three stories high, featuring dormer heads on the second floor, while there is a two-story west extension. A circular angle entrance tower, inspired by Castle Fraser, crowns the building with a balustraded top. To the northeast, there is a low two-story court of offices that also has dormer heads and is set back from the main structure.
