Description

This is a group of three cast-iron mileposts, likely dating from the mid-19th century, located on the A823 road between Dunfermline and Rumbling Bridge. Each post features a two-stage design with a black and white finish. They have a waisted columnar plinth that transitions into finialled, battered rectangular faces. Each face displays the name of the destination along with the distance in miles. The inscriptions are as follows:

  • One post indicates Dunfermline 7 miles and Rumbling Bridge 9.5 miles.
  • Another post shows Dunfermline 8 miles and Rumbling Bridge 9.5 miles.
  • The third post states Dunfermline 9 miles and Rumbling Bridge 2.5 miles.
